Line Service Technician
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Line Service Technician is the front line of the business, ensuring that all aircraft movements are performed with safety and customer service as the focus. Working as part of a team you will greet and dispatch arriving and departing aircraft with a friendly and helpful disposition. You will operate ground service equipment (GSE) to perform services on the aircraft within the company’s policies and procedures and provide attentive service to all of McClellan Jet Services customers and other guests to the fixed base operation (FBO). This position will report directly to the on-duty line service supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Always promote and maintain a positive image of McClellan Jet Services to all personnel, members, volunteers, vendors and the community. • Embody a safety-first mindset and ensure that safety and security policies and procedures are always followed. • Responsible for greeting pax and crew, parking, towing, wing walking, moving and marshalling aircraft arriving or departing the ramp area. • Safely operate fuel trucks, tugs, forklifts and service vehicles. Report any unsafe, broken equipment to your supervisor. • Responsible for fuel deliveries, ensuring the correct fuel type is delivered and quantity is as requested. • Supply oil, nitrogen, and oxygen services for aircraft. • Provide assistance to crews by loading and unloading baggage/cargo to/from aircraft. • Perform aircraft services such as disposing of lavatory waste and servicing potable water. • Furnish ground service functions such as providing electrical power and operating the air start cart. • Ensuring that company vehicles are clean and well maintained and perform aircraft windshield cleaning when required. • Responsible for general cleanliness of hangars, equipment, ramp areas, and customer areas. • Properly dispose of waste, fuels, and oils. • Other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: • Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend and explain documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Effectively communicate to crews and passengers both verbally and in writing. • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, area and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math. PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS: • Physical Demands: the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the overall duties and responsibilities of this job including: o Regularly required to stand or walk. o Frequently will be required to use their hands to handle and feel or to reach with hands and arms. o Must be able to regularly climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit or crawl. o Must regularly lift and or move up to 70 pounds. o Extensive and constant standing, walking, lifting, carrying, stretching, squeezing, pushing, bending, crawling, climbing, twisting. o Physically enter/exit and operate motor vehicles and ground support equipment such as trucks, vans, tugs, and cars. o Perform various functions from elevated heights. o Possible exposer to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and equipment. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to wet and or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat. Operations Manager
The FBO Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day overall management of the FBO line services and customer service including the fuel farm, inventories, facilities and equipment, and contributes to marketing, sales, and customer service relationships while maintaining and overseeing compliance and adherence to MJS policies and procedures and safety standards for the department’s staff and our clients and guests. Essential Functions: • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with the FBO operations in accordance with MJS, governmental, and environmental agencies policies and regulations. • Management training and development of department personnel, securing the required number of staff and ensuring the required level of qualifications and experience. • Coordination with management, other departments, manufacturers, vendors and customers in matters of overriding importance. • Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with MJS procedures, process specifications, technical requirements, manufacturer requirements, aviation rules, and every other applicable or accepted requirement of an authorized body. • Supports the development of pricing schedules and rates for any relevant ground handling services provided. • Participates in negotiations with commercial partners and third-party service providers, where and as necessary • Supports existing relationships with customers, vendors, and suppliers and establishes new relationships accordingly. • Manages and oversees the operation and maintenance of Ground Support Equipment, including specification of new equipment when necessary. • Responsibility for managing and operating the department within budget and performance expectations. • Enhances and reinforces training programs to ensure that a high and continuing level of safe operations, customer service and line service is maintained. • Communicates changes or additions to company or departmental policies to the staff. • Motivates and encourages all staff to provide the highest safety and service levels. • Assumes additional responsibilities and delegates responsibilities to qualified personnel, as necessary. • Any other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities: • Ability to coordinate various departments and staff to ensure efficiency and safety in all areas. • Excellent communication skills. • Expertise in aviation and business management. • Excellent attention to detail with commitment to accuracy. • Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on strong communication skills in both oral and written form. • Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule which may include working overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and be on-call as required. • With company cell phone and iPad candidate must be able to make themselves available via technology connections from their home • Assist with Airfield Management • Able to communicate and work with military personnel. • Must be able to travel regionally 15% Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for managing and overseeing the performance of all quality control functions, safety training and standards, managers and supervisors, line service and customer service staff and facilities and equipment maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendors. Conducts performance evaluations for direct reports and facilitates discipline and termination of employees as needed in accordance with policy. Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED certificate • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience • Former Military desirable • Valid California state driver’s license and required. • Meet the Company’s operational and safety training requirements. • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in FBO Management or the equivalent in an aviation related field • Demonstrated ramp operation and management capability. • Fuel Farm management • Working knowledge of ATA 103 and NFPA 407 • Aptitude in supervising and developing staff. • Consistently demonstrated good organizational and leadership skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to learn new software and systems as required. • Customer relations skills required. • Ability to act under pressure and be adaptable to change on a constant basis. • Must pass all conducted drug/alcohol screens, background and security checks and prove eligibility for employment in the United States Physical Requirements: • Ability to drive to conferences, offsite meetings and meet with suppliers. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. • Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and equipment. • Outside work in all types of weather conditions. • Ability to see and hear clearly. • Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, climb, push, pull and walk for extended periods. • Ability to operate motor vehicles and ground support equipment such as trucks, vans, tugs, and cars.
